Ross Creek is looking for permanent and seasonal staff for various positions, from property management to community development. We’re also looking for people for our summer seasonal positions like camp counsellors and leaders, and accounting co-op students. We’re also hiring artist-educators for our summer camp workshops! House Chef

Nourish our community. 

Food is central to what we do at Ross Creek, both for our own programs and how we integrate our cultural programs with food security and community connection. We are looking for someone who can work full time and invest in the food part of what we do – feeding artists, campers and staff, while working with community to make it stronger, and to mentor volunteers and youth.

Please note: A love of cooking essential – formal training not required though lovely.

Rate: $35,000-$38,500 to start depending on level of experience

Benefits: Co-pay health & dental package, creative renewal, etc.

Type of Employment: salaried, onsite work with  flexible schedule to accommodate events and performances.

Development Coordinator

Eco-Educator/Property Manager

Connect our community with nature and keep our bees a-buzzing!

Do you care about our natural world and want to pass on that passion and knowledge to our community? Do you have skills in the garden and/or with light repairs or trail building? Have you imagined yourself in a place where you can combine your passion for community with hands on action to make something more beautiful, accessible, and sustainable? Combine eco-education with collaborative care of our facilities and grounds maintenance, including our gardens and bees (training provided).  Experience or education:  environmental science, sustainable forestry,  organic farm or trades with a passion for nature and passing on that knowledge. Lived experience welcome. 

Rate: $35,000-$39,000 to start depending on level of experience

Summer Cook

Job Description:

Make magic by creating delicious food for campers, the public, staff and artists. Working under our permanent chef, you’ll work with a team of great people, using food from our gardens and making great, nutritious and yummy food.  

No formal chef training required, though experience in and a love of cooking and baking are essential. Working with our permanent chef, you will develop and implement a nutritious and appropriate menu for a variety of visitors, from the pickiest young eater to a more adventurous adult audience. Working with other staff and guiding volunteers, you will work with our gardener to take advantage of our substantial organic gardens, learn to work with local suppliers whenever possible to provide excellent nutrition, taste, and education about healthy and delicious local food. It’s a great team!

Must be able to work in Canada

Salaries:  $16.50/hour 35 paid hours weekly.

Visitor Services/ Box Office

Job Description:

Working with a great team, the Visitor Service Coordinator and the Box Office Manager  will be the front-line staff welcoming camp families, audiences, artists and visitors to Ross Creek. From the moment you pick up the phone, email or personally welcome someone, you are an ambassador for the theatre and the centre.  

They are exciting and meaningful positions that have a huge impact on the position of Ross Creek and Two Planks in the community’s imagination.

Finance and Accounting

Job Description:

Working with our management, you will learn to do daily bookkeeping, payroll, deductions and remittances, as well as union deductions, and all earned, public and private income, bank reconciliations and all associated activity connected to the best practices in non-profit accounting. They will work on year-end as soon as they begin and work under our management to ensure proper controls and cash flow management. The financial and resource coordinator will also work closely with the visitor service coordinator to ensure good communication with camp families, audiences and the staff and artists.

They will do one evening per week in the theatre box office and gain experience with the public and programming as well as bookkeeping and resource management.

Must be able to work in Canada

Gardener

Job Description:

Ideal for an environmental scientist or a horticulture student, the gardener works under the supervision of our environmental educator, following a plan for our large organic gardens & working in a team of staff & volunteers to grow & harvest food for our camps, & to educate youth about food security & reduction of food waste. You will keep accurate records on our digital systems & track our yields & also ensure beautification of the property for visitors. You will learn from our property manager to develop a beautiful & productive food garden, as well as best practices for pollination, etc. You will ensure that our COVID protocols & practices are adhered to, & will work with our youth leaders, volunteers, & other staff to ensure a great working environment and a great garden!

Must be able to work in Canada
