Marketing and Communications Coordinator

A place to grow your career!
We are looking for a locally based (or willing to be local) person who is passionate about connecting people to the work of the centre and Two Planks! A position that encourages creativity while working within our brands, we need someone with experience in Adobe Creative Suite and either education in marketing and communications or a willingness to learn! Curiosity and collaboration are prized. It is an onsite salaried position with occassional attendance at programs and events on weekends or in evenings. It’s an amazing team, an amazing place and you can help it thrive! Must be legally allowed to work in Canada. 

Salary range $35-37,500 to start,  plus health benefits, creative renewal time after one year and other benefits. 

Must be within commuting distance and have reliable transportation

House Chef and Preparateur

A place to grow your career!

Come work at a place where we value the experience of sharing food together, and the cultural context of food with diverse audiences. Ross Creek believes in providing locally produced, high quality, broad appeal food. We have a seasonal menu, which takes advantage of our substantial organic gardens, and we work with local suppliers whenever possible to provide excellent nutrition, taste, and education about healthy and delicious local food. The Chef and House Preparateur is a dynamic individual, interested in using local produce (when possible and feasible), loves being part of a team and working with volunteers. Working around the cooking duties for programs and people at Ross Creek, the Chef and House Preparateur will also liaise with local farms to create a working model for integrated food production in our community, serving the Centre’s programs. Further, the Chef and House Preparateur will also ensure that incoming artists and program participants of the Centre have their accommodations prepared and ready, that all dietary restrictions are catered for, and that healthy, excellent food is available for programs. Rate: $35,000-$39,000 to start depending on level of experience

Benefits: Co-pay health and dental package, creative renewal, etc.

Type of Employment: salaried, onsite work with expectations of flexible schedule to accommodate events and performances on occasion.

Location: Canning, NS

Note: Must have own transportation, Ross Creek Centre is not on a public bus route.
*Potential to stay onsite during until September.

Camp Leaders

Job Description:
​Ross Creek Camp Leaders live on-site for the summer from Sunday through Friday, and support our incredible arts camps! Participating in the life of camp, field trips and evening programs, Camp Leaders guide our Counsellors and junior staff to ensure that the programs function efficiently on a day-to-day basis, while creating an incredible, memorable and wonderful summer for our campers and each other! Camp Leaders ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times, promote and maintain policies and procedures, create and maintain a positive camp environment, participate in and lead games and spirit activities to foster enjoyment and self-esteem, assist Staff and Instructors as necessary, and help make magic for kids and your team for a great summer!

Gardener

Job Description:

​Ideal for an environmental scientist or a horticulture student, the gardener works under the supervision of our environmental educator, following a plan for our large organic gardens & working in a team of staff & volunteers to grow & harvest food for our camps, & to educate youth about food security & reduction of food waste. You will keep accurate records on our digital systems & track our yields & also ensure beautification of the property for visitors. You will work to develop a beautiful & productive food garden, as well as learning best practices for pollination, etc. You will work with our youth leaders, volunteers, & other staff to ensure a great working environment & a great garden!

Fields of Study: Horticulture, Landscape Design, Arts,

Term: Summer 2023, as early as possible through August or longer if possible.

Box Office Coordinator

POSITION WILL BE FILLED WHEN A SUITABLE CANDIDATE IS IDENTIFIED, SO APPLY NOW!

Job Description:
Working with other staff and volunteers, the Box Office Coordinator will be the front-line staff welcoming audiences to the performances of Two Planks and a Passion Theatre. Responsible for setting up the box office and supporting the production until the performances begin, they will liaise with Visitor Services and Theatre staff, serve patrons, lead them to the shows and do box office reconciliations each evening.

Visitor Services

Job Description

Working with a great team, the Visitor Service Coordinator will be the front-line staff welcoming camp families, audiences, artists and visitors to Ross Creek. From the moment you pick up the phone, email or personally welcome someone, you are an ambassador for the theatre and the centre. You will be a communicator, excited about public relations and problem-solving, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the whole Ross Creek community. Responsible for taking and coordination registrations for camp, and box office bookings for the theatre, managing the box office for all shows and ensuring the comfort and safety of patrons and guests.  It is an exciting and meaningful position that has huge impact on the position of Ross Creek in the community’s imagination

Term: Summer 2023, April through August
