Making a legacy gift that helps your passion live on!
You can look long term to ensure Ross Creek and Two Planks continue to inspire and give voice to our wider community both in and through the arts, while also supporting our community at the most grass roots level through our food and other programs.
By making a planned gift (life insurance, bequest, RSP, or appreciated property), you make a powerful commitment to the future of an extraordinary place for generations of artists and communities to come. A simple and moving tribute is also to direct people to make a donation in lieu of flowers. If you decide to do that, please email us to let us know so we can ensure we are recognizing people as you would like.
You can make your gift towards Ross Creek, Two Planks, a specific program area, or our capital fund which allows us to make the critical improvements that will allow us to adapt to climate change and keep the facilities up to date for all our visitors, or you can leave it undesignated and we will apply it to the area of greatest need at the time of receipt.
We have four options for planned giving currently, and always very happy to discuss what works best for you and your family.
Request more information about planned giving through our secure form, or email us to begin a conversation.
Please note that for planned giving purposes, you should identify us through our charitable name: CoastArts Association.
BEQUEST IN YOUR WILL
Easy and popular
Giving through your will is the easiest way to leave a legacy gift. You can choose to leave a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remaining balance of your estate after you’ve provided for loved ones. This is not a current gift, but one planned for the future, so you know that you are leaving a true legacy for the future.
GIFT OF LIFE INSURANCE
Designating CoastArts as the beneficiary or owner of your Life Insurance policy can give you valuable tax savings today and potentially tax relief to your estate in the future. It is a simple and affordable way to make a significant impact on our programs with no cost to you right now, and potentially with a great benefit for your estate in the future. APPRECIATED PROPERTY
Deduct the Full Value of Your Gift
A gift of property is a tangible asset, such as real estate, special collections (The Herbert Lewis Library at Ross Creek is one example), or works of art that may be used or sold by Ross Creek and/or Two Planks. In addition to receiving a charitable receipt for the fair market value for leaving such a gift, your estate may also avoid any potential income tax on the capital gain amount.
Please note: Gifts of Appreciated Property must be approved by the Ross Creek Centre for the Arts prior to acceptance. Please contact us to ensure we can assist you.
RETIREMENT SAVING PLAN
A gift that can reduce Income & Estate tax
Leaving the remainder of your retirement savings plan to Ross Creek / Two Planks can reduce both your income taxes and estate taxes upon death, while leaving a legacy for the future of arts and culture for generations. Designating the remainder of your RRSP or RRIF to CoastArts Association bypasses taxes and fees that would otherwise be payable on transfer or distribution.
Just request a Change In Beneficiary form from your plan provider and name CoastArts Association as beneficiary of all or a portion of the RRSP or RRIF and return the document to your provider.
ENDOWMENTS
At Ross Creek and Two Planks, we are working toward an endowment program, once our Building the Future campaign is complete and our annual donations are robust enough to allow us to make that transition with some of our donors. We will have an endowment campaign in the future and you will be able to make a named endowment or to put funds into an established endowment as you wish. If you would like to assist us with this planning, please contact us at develop@artscentre.ca or at 902.582.3842.
