TEEN ARTS ACADEMY: 2 WEEK ARTS CAMP ON THE NORTH MOUNTAIN
The Teen Arts Academy provides students 14–18 years old with an intensive preprofessional experience in the arts to focus on creative thinking and collaboration. You’ll gain new artistic skills and unlock your creativity under the mentorship of our professional artist faculty. You will also learn how to critique, and how to express abstract concepts all in a supportive space.
Each morning, students go to their chosen discipline (Theatre, Visual Arts, Film, Choreography, Writing or Music) to work with their peers and their mentor on developing skills and creating a portfolio. Each afternoon, the mentors create multidisciplinary collaborative projects to stretch and challenge the students while encouraging a sense of creative play.
Combined with our rec program, the Academies are a place for young artists to find their voice and their community while having a fabulous time!
FACILITIES: STUDIOS, GALLERIES, & GARDENS
Our campus is set in a beautiful landscape — 178 acres of field and forest. The Academy uses the landscape for inspiration, performance, and recreation. Ross Creek offers a cultural library, galleries, and multiple arts studios with natural light and professional equipment.
FACULTY: ARTISTS & EDUCATORS
Our Academy faculty is made up of working artists who are renowned as both arts professionals and mentors and are dedicated to their craft and to an interdisciplinary approach to arts education. All Academy students have meaningful access to all of the mentors during collaboration. Artist faculty for 2023 to be announced!
WHAT TO EXPECT: ACHIEVE & EXCEL
Spend two-weeks pushing boundaries and having fun with like-minded peers in a retreat setting. You will create your own work in a supportive studio environment, leaving the Academy with a portfolio, audition piece, music demo, or film, along with professional advice to help you think about the next steps in your artistic development. You will also leave with a new community of artist friends! Alumni have gone on to all fields, including post-secondary programs and professional work.
