Come to work at Summer Camp at Ross Creek! We have great camp jobs for youth between 19-30 who love the arts, care about making great experiences for kids and who want to spend the summer in a fabulous and beautiful location surrounded by artists and nature in a beautiful campus with forest, fields and ponds, all overlooking the Bay of Fundy. We welcome applications from across Canada.

If you don’t have prior camp experience, that’s not a problem! All camp staff go through an extensive Staff Training which includes the ins and outs of working at camp, including recreational activities meant to build our team for the summer.

Overall, it’s about making wonderful memories and magic for both the campers and each other!

Ross Creek is a unique summer camp in Nova Scotia. Because of our hybrid workshop-camp recreational programming, counsellors will get chances to inspire passion for the arts in our campers, as well as learn themselves from our experienced artist-instructors. We highly encourage all camp staff to take advantage of the opportunity to build connections in our local arts community and learn from our instructors. Plus there is a professional theatre company onsite and you get to see award-winning theatre every summer too! 

Camp Counsellors are responsible for the emotional and physical health and well-being (including fun!) for campers, while the artist faculty are responsible for the daily workshop content.

WHAT DOES WORKING AT SUMMERARTS CAMP LOOK LIKE?  
We have a team of 30 camp staff in various levels and at different stages of their camp staff journey, with 8 paid positions as counsellors and camp leaders.
  • We have a youth leadership team ranging from 14-18 years old, so we prefer our paid camp staff to be at at least 19 years old.
  • Contracts for our Counsellor positions start in mid June and go through the last week in August. Most weekends are off. Camp leadership roles begin earlier. Our staff members live on-site for the entirety of the contract, with the freedom to come and go on the weekends between sessions.
  • Living accommodations are on site in our bunkhouses (in a small private pod for camp leadership. 
  • All delicious meals are included for the summer. 
  • Our sessions run from Sunday afternoon to Friday, meaning that staff have Friday evening and all day Saturday off, with the exception of two weekends in August, when we have out trips with teenage campers. 
  • Everyone at camp builds the fabulous team with a full training schedule. There are opportunities to upgrade your first aid and gain other knowledge for your resume.  You’ll  have all the information you need to be successful before our first campers arrive!
  • Our staff members work full days, caring for and running programs for campers from around 7:00 am – 10:00 pm. with numerous breaks for each staff member. 
  • It’s full of amazing, lifetime friendships, learning, and mentoring, making magic for kids, and for each other.

SALARY

Salaries are variable depending on position, paid biweekly. 
Camp Counsellors: $620/week
Rec Director: $660/week
Camp Director: $680/Week

Term: Summer 2024, May (Camp Leaders) or end of June (Camp Counsellors) through August
