We welcome new and returning faces to the Mountain for the summer season.
Two Planks and a Passion Theatre is committed to a creative workspace which is open, welcoming and safe. We encourage submissions from artists of all genders, ethnicities, abilities, and identities, including those who self-identify as IBPOC, LGBTQ2S+, d/Deaf, living with disabilities, and/or facing other systemic challenges in our industry. Artists who require any accommodations in the application and/or audition process are encouraged to ask, including (but not limited to) requests for scheduling flexibility.
Two Planks and a Passion Theatre values collaboration where many voices are heard and trust is earned. We do not tolerate harassment in any form in our workplace, and a detailed anti-harassment policy is in place.
Two Planks and a Passion Theatre acknowledges that we are located in the Sipekni’katik, region of Mi’kma’ki. We acknowledge the Mi’kmaq (L’nu) people as the first people of this land, which is still the traditional and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people, covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship”, and we are grateful to be welcomed here to work and live.
Two Planks and a Passion Theatre presents all its work outdoors in rural Nova Scotia. Our productions do not use electricity. Produced in collaboration with the natural landscape, our theatre explores stories with a deep connection to the land and grapples with contemporary concerns through the lens of rural life- often adapting historical works or creating new plays from our unique perspective.
The Ross Creek Centre is the company’s home. The Centre offers a wide variety of programs, including summer arts camps which run concurrently with the theatre’s season. On a typical day in summer, there may be upwards of 60 people living at the centre, with many more partaking of programs during the day.
Rehearsals take place mostly indoors in one of the Centre’s large studios. Two Planks artists typically live at the Centre during the season, either in “ The Farmhouse” – a 7-bedroom, recently renovated house on site, or in one of the many cabins that exist on the property. A meal program is available for all resident artists. The entire experience- living and working- is a communal one on a beautiful, rural farm with excellent studio amenities.
Rehearsals for our summer season begin on May 19th, 2026, and the productions will open June 27th, 2026. The productions are scheduled to close on August 15th, 2026.
Both productions are performed outdoors at the Ross Creek Centre for the Arts, one in daylight (The Wind Coming Over The Sea) and the other by firelight (The Monkey’s Paw).
Contracts will be issued under the Canadian Theatre Agreement (C.T.A).
Auditions are for roles in our Summer 2026 repertory season at the Ross Creek Centre for the Arts near Canning, N.S.
The two productions being cast are The Wind Coming Over The Sea by Emma Donoghue (Directed by Ken Schwartz, Musical Direction by Allen Cole) and The Monkey’s Paw, a new play adapted by Ken Schwartz (directed by Ken Schwartz). All performers cast will have roles in both productions.
