“Thanks so much to all at Ross Creek for participating in such a positive way in the development of our son’s growth as an artist, and an all round wonderful boy”
Summer Arts 2023
Summer Arts camps are one week in length and have daycamp, and overnight options. Camps run Monday to Friday 9:00am to 4:45pm.
Please note: while the weekly dates are Monday through Friday in the table below, the overnight campers arrive on Sunday at 4 pm the day before.
We are thrilled to welcome family and friends to the centre to see their campers share their work at the Weekly Showcase on the Friday at 2:30 pm. This means that the daily shuttle does not usually run on Friday afternoons, and we encourage families to come see the world of your camper and pick them up in person. However if you have no transportation or if your camper is flying to camp, contact us and we’ll make sure they are well cared for and get home to you with all their work!
We will document all the programs and are very excited about sharing their work with you through online galleries and video. We will be working hard to ensure that you have an opportunity to celebrate and if you have things that are important to you, we welcome your feedback!
Week-long day camp: $345 incl. lunch and snack.
Week-long day camp w/ Thursday overnight: $405 incl. lunch and snack.
Overnight camp: $550 incl. all meals and accommodations.
The Camp Bus: $100.00 for the week. Click here to view the schedule and to reserve your spot. We do not pro-rate the bus for week-long camps if you only need transportation for a day or two.
All camp fees include all art materials, snacks, and lunch, and additionally, supper, breakfast and accommodations for overnight campers. Junior campers (5-7) are only eligible for day camp, with the exception of the Thursday overnight add-on if they are 7+. No overnight stays for ages 6 and under.
For afternoon snacks we have the “tuckshop” where the campers can buy up to two homemade sweet treats for $2 ($1 ea). This is a traditional part of a camper’s growing independence and camp fun! Some common tuck items are cookies, brownies and our famous snickerdoodle squares.
Payment plans for families who would like to make the cost of camp fit into their budget. The early-bird discount does not apply to payment plans, and there is a small fee ($20) for setting up the plan to cover the additional administrative time. Click here to contact us by email and make payment arrangements.
Bursaries and Scholarships
We work hard to offer full and partial bursaries and scholarships to students who need financial aid and COVID has made that more challenging. Limited camp spots and drastically reduced earned revenue means we need some help! If you are in a position to help a child get to camp, we accept tax-deductible donations directly into our R.J. Owen Bursary Fund. We want to keep camps accessible to all and strive to be an inclusive community that empowers financially marginalized families.
You can email us here to support a child from our community and give them the gift of a fabulous summer.
Bursary applications require letters of reference, so please apply early. The deadline for submissions is June 1st for SummerArts financial aid. Bursary decisions are made by a committee and are based on a combination of need and merit. We regret that we cannot give full bursaries to all students, but try to assist as many children and families as we can through the generosity of corporations, businesses, individuals and some schools.
Fillable Bursary applications are available here.

Will Camps Be Overnight This Year?
We will be able to offer overnight camps this summer.
If we aren’t able to accommodate you overnight for space reasons, we hope that families can plan a fabulous play and stay vacation, either camping at Blomidon Provincial Park, The Look-Off, or staying at Canning’s own Farmhouse Inn, which is offering a Ross Creek Camp Family special.
What About Covid-19?
As we continue to learn about and adapt to COVID-19, we are adding to our best-practices in our accredited camp to ensure that we are following or surpassing all public health guidelines while committing to a wonderful and nurturing experience for your children.
Running an accredited camp means that we have lots of protocols that we already use for all of our camps, including disinfection of our high touch surfaces and frequent hand washing for all staff and campers. We already screen for illness before kids come to camp and we will be adding the extra screening for all COVID symptoms and exposure. Those kids will not be able to attend until they are cleared to come.
As of this writing, Masks are worn inside unless drinking or eating or if not feasible due to activity.
Our camp staff, and faculty eligible for vaccination are all vaccinated in accordance with Nova Scotian health guidelines.
We are committed to providing an amazing camp program for you and your family, full of creativity, skill development, outdoor exploration, all while making sure we are all safe and happy.
If you have any questions or concerns about our summer, please contact us directly and we will be delighted to do our best to help you. If you prefer you can call at 902-582-3842.
